About us
Our story starts way back in 2004, when AwaaWaa2 was set up and registered as a charity in Ghana.
We assess and support children with speech and language difficulties and their parents.

What is Speech and Language Difficulty?
A child with any of the following:
- Slow to talk
- Unclear speech
- Difficulty understanding what is said
- Difficulty socialising or playing
Causes of Speech and Language Difficulties (SLD)
The reasons for some SLDs are not known. Children with following problems may have SLD:
- A hearing impairment
- Down Syndrome
- Stammer
- Autism
- Severely premature babies
- Cerebral Palsy
- Cleft Palate
- Voice Problems
- Head Injury
- Complex needs are at risk
Early Intervention
Many studies show that 1 out of 8 children have some speech, language and social interaction difficulty. A child’s early years are very important for developing appropriate milestones. These milestones include babbling, crawling, chewing, walking and talking. It is therefore vital that you observe and seek help for your child as soon as possible when you have concerns about how your child is developing. Children need to have good non-verbal skills and learn many other rules about language and social interaction before they can learn to talk. Use very simple language and plenty of gestures when talking to your infant child.
